  Naphthalene is a common chemical raw material with specific applications in industrial production. Accurately identifying it requires a combination of its physical properties, chemical characteristics, and other characteristics. Mastering scientific identification methods can avoid confusion with other similar substances and ensure safety during use or handling.

If the substance begins to melt at around 80 ℃ and the melting process is relatively uniform without obvious impurities or delamination, it is likely to be refined naphthalene. If the melting temperature is significantly lower or higher than this range, or if there are abnormal conditions such as bubbling or discoloration during melting, it indicates that the substance is not refined naphthalene. During testing, attention should be paid to controlling the heating speed to avoid rapid temperature rise and judgment errors. At the same time, fire prevention measures should be taken, as refined naphthalene is flammable.
